Growing up in Cuttack, Odisha, Swami Yatidharmananda had a thousand questions like this about our culture, religion and spirituality.
Even though he was born into a very spiritual family and having taken mantra initiation from Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji, the family Guru at a young age, he admits to being “the spoilt kid of a business man-magician father”. His constant questions and not finding logical answers to them led him to become a non believer at one point of his life. Things went wrong for him when his father left everything and became a Monk.
He came to Sivananda Ashram to meet Swami Chidanandaji and take his father back. This meeting led him to have a powerful spiritual experience at the Holy Samadhi Shrine of ParamaGurudev Swami SivanandajiMaharaj and became a major turning point in his life. With the directions of his Guru he went on to study and then work as a systems analyst in Delhi. Later he landed in Hong Kong as a Computer Programmer. But soon his destiny brought him back to India. He had a strong urge to stay in the ashram and serve his Guru. After initial refusal, finally his Guru accepted him and he became one of his personal assistants in the year 1996.
He dedicated himself to the service his Guru and was very blessed and lucky to be with him 24X7 for many years. He had the rare opportunity to observe one of the greatest saint and his humility, sadhana and surrender. This had a great impact on him.
In 2003 he was given the task of upgrading the ashram in the digital domain by his Guru. Swamiji went on to design many books and also the website for the ashram. His childhood obsession to find answers to his questions led him to digitize all the materials of the great teachers of the Sivananda Ashram. He established the Audio Visual Studio and Library and restored rare films of Swami Sivananda. He became very well known in the Digitial Archiving Domain internationally which he dedicates as his Guru Kripa.
In the year 2000 he received SannyasaDiksha from his Guru. After the Mahasamadhi of Gurudev Swami Chidanandaji in 2008, he continued to serve at the Audio Visual Studio. In July 2012 he set out on his own to continue his service to his Guru and start a mission of his own in the name of his Gurudev Swami Chidananda.
